System Center Essentials 2010 (SCE 2010) Basic Introduction

At this post, I will give basic intro about system center essentials 2010. Follow on at next post, I will try capture more screenshot on program features in depth with you. So that you could gain more understanding about the product prior hands on installing a server and compare the difference with others products.

This product is designed for small medium enterprise with user size in between 50 – 500 with less than 50 server. If you supporting for small medium business who got budget constraint, this is a “great piece” software to have. It is one of the best product combined all menu into single console and allow you to do most administration work you need. This product helps you in :

  • Gather status of each pc event status, ok, warning,

Welcome 2011
Hi SWUGsters,
Firstly a Happy Chinese New Year to all. How’s your Hong Bao collecting so far? Here wishing all of you Gong Xi Fa Cai, money “too” much!
We are already in the second month of 2011. Looking back at 2010, we ended it with a fun filled and successful CTU II. CTU II attracts 87 attendees breaking out into 4 tracks and 16 sessions which encapsulated various technologies such as Sharepoint, Windows Azure and many others. Not forgetting Kinect which give many attendees a chance to try out the fun loving experience at the same time have a great workout session on a Saturday afternoon.
In our November meet up, we have collected feedbacks on the topic which you guys wish to hear more. We do hear more voices asking for some round-table session to share their experiences. Yes we heard you. This will serves as our guideline as we move forward in 2011. To start thing off, we are have some “light” round-table this month addressing the most fundamental yet import part of our IT infrastructure.
In Microsoft at 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show Keynote session, Steve Ballmer conclude year 2010 for Microsoft and the achievement they have meet. At the same time he addresses in year 2011 what is Microsoft pushing out. This is a 1 hour keynote session that none of you should missed. Wait no more and start clicking here.

To install this download:
For Outlook 2010 32-bit, Outlook 2007, and Outlook 2003:
1. Download the setup file by clicking the Download button next to OSCWL-x86-en-us.exe (below), and save the file to your hard disk.
2. Double-click the OSCWL-x86-en-us.exe program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.
For Outlook 2010 64-bit:
1. Download the setup file by clicking the Download button next to OSCWL-x64-en-us.exe (below), and save the file to your hard disk.
2. Double-click the OSCWL-x64-en-us.exe program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program.
3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Instructions for use:
· After you install this download, restart Outlook, and you will be prompted by the Outlook Social Connector configuration wizard to connect to Windows Live Messenger.
1. Under Social Network Accounts, select Windows Live Messenger.
2. For User Name: enter your Windows Live Messenger email account.
3. For Password: enter your Windows Live Messenger password.
4. Click Connect
5. Once the connection is successfully completed, click Finish
· If you were not prompted by the Outlook Social Connector configuration wizard, you can still connect to Windows Live Messenger.

For Outlook 2010:
1. On the View tab, in the People Pane group, click People Pane, and then click Account Settings.

2. Under Social Network Accounts, select Windows Live Messenger.

3. For User Name: enter your Windows Live Messenger email account.
4. For Password: enter your Windows Live Messenger password.
5. Click Connect.

I came by this blog post in Technet Blog and it kind of set me thinking. Outlook to most of us is a everyday tools. Probably for some folks out there, outlook is just as important as their mobile phone. Most of us uses Outlook calendar to help us keep our daily schedule organize. Outlook Social Connector, Now with Facebook
This might be something useful to Facebook fan. Outlook have come out with a Social Connector which allow you to enrich you experience on outlook. For Office 2010 user, the Social Connector will comes with Windows Updates so you do not need to download it yourself. For Office 2003 and 2007 user, you are not left out. Just need to put in  little bit more effort by going to Microsoft website and download it. Windows Live Essentials Wave 4 Beta
Windows Live Essentials Wave 4 are available since late June and I have personally tried out myself.
I personally like Live Photo Gallery a lot as it enable me to upload photos from my machine right up to social network without going through the website.
Live Messenger, everybody's favorites, have great improvement made too. In Wave 4, Live Messenger tie up with social network to allow you to view updates right of your friends in social network right from your MSN windows.
For those who are familiar or have tried Live mesh before, in Wave 4, it has been replace by something call Live Sync. It’s has work the exact same way but of cause with new features in it. Cool ya?
One limitation to this, you need to be running Vista or Win7 to have this running in your machine.
